VICTOR SHERGILL

Victor Shergill is a Sydney-based artist with a deep passion for storytelling and visual communication.

Initially a delinquent graffiti-writer, Victor's talents were guided in a different direction after high-school, set onto rigorous fine art training. In 2017, while in Paris to host his first solo exhibition 'La Quête du Bon Style', Victor ventured into animation, directing his first project, "Paris La Nuit". Committed to the path of animation, viewing it as the most robust artistic medium available - he looked to build his practical skills and collaborative experience, in 2020 achieving a Master's Degree in Animation and Visualisation from the Animal Logic Academy at UTS

His industry career began in 2021 at Cheeky Little, where his skills and energy were quickly recognised - storyboarding over an hour of animatics for Australian children's content on global streaming platforms. In August 2022, Victor was asked to apply his compositional expertise at Flying Bark Studio as a Background Painter on Marvel's flagship animated series "What If", streaming on Disney+. In 2024, Victor's program continues to expand.  Building toward his next body of fine art focused on Eucalyptus trees, exploring their symbolic and literal representations through a variety of mediums - seeking to understand their affect on the Australian collective consciousness.  He is concurrently directing a small team of industry artists on a short animation piece for SWELLTIME Music festival 2024 - using a hybrid of traditional hand-drawn and 3D animation techniques .

Victor has a unique blend of experience. Growing from his graffiti writing origins, Victor learnt how to, shall we say - navigate and thrive in dynamic creative environments, solving problems collaboratively in the face of ever present obstacles to production. From this solid base, his dedication to timeless, traditional art principles combined with a thorough understanding of cutting-edge modern technology and animation pipelines positions him as a rising talent in the animation industry.
